  2.   Complete Illustrated Catalogue CD-ROM

  5.   Introductory and Setup Notes

  8.   The Complete Illustrated Catalogue (CIC) program runs on a PC 
  9.   installed with Microsoft Windows 3.1 (or later) or Windows 95.  
  10.   A minimum of 8MB RAM (main memory) is recommended.
  11.  
  12.   When running the program, ensure that the CIC CD-ROM is inserted
  13.   into your CD-ROM drive.  Do not eject the CD-ROM while the program
  14.   is running.  The disc may be removed from the drive when you have
  15.   finished running the program.

  17.   The CIC program must be installed onto your hard disc before it
  18.   can be run.  This is because essential shared system files must
  19.   be made available to Windows.  However, the data files which the
  20.   program uses always reside on the CD-ROM.

  22.   To install the National Gallery Complete Illustrated Catalogue:
  23.   
  24.    1.  Turn on your computer, and turn on your CD-ROM drive if necessary.
  25.    2.  Place the CD-ROM into the drive. For some CD-ROM drives,  you may
  26.        first need to place the CD-ROM into a plastic disk holder called
  27.        a 'caddy.'
  28.    3.  Wait a few seconds until the CD-ROM drive's busy light switches off.
  29.        
  30.   For Microsoft Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups users:
  31.  
  32.    4.  From the Program Manager's "File" Menu, choose "Run...".
  33.    5.  Type
  34.            D:\SETUP
  35.        and click the "OK" button. (If your CD-ROM is not connected to 
  36.        drive D:, please replace this with the letter of your CD-ROM 
  37.        drive.)
  38.    6.  Follow the instructions presented to you by SETUP; it may need to
  39.        restart your PC.
  40.    7.  When the SETUP program has finished, a new program manager group
  41.        called "Complete Illustrated Catalogue" will have been created;
  42.        double-click on the "Complete Illustrated Catalogue" icon in this
  43.        program group.

  45.      For further information, double-click the "CIC Read Me" icon in the
  46.      "Complete Illustrated Catalogue" program group.

  48.   For Microsoft Windows 95 users:
  49.  
  50.    4.  Double-click the "My Computer" icon, then double-click on the CD-ROM
  51.        drive icon.
  52.    5.  Double-click on the "Setup" program icon.
  53.    6.  Follow the instructions presented to you by SETUP; it may need to
  54.        restart your PC.
  55.    7.  When the SETUP program has finished, click on the "Start button",
  56.        click on the "Programs" sub-menu, and a new "Complete Illustrated
  57.        Catalogue" sub-menu should be present. Choose this, and then choose
  58.        the "Complete Illustrated Catalogue" menu item.

  60.       For further information, select the "CIC Read Me" menu item from the
  61.       "Complete Illustrated Catalogue" sub-menu under the Start button.

  63.   When the program starts up, it displays a title screen click anywhere on
  64.   this screen to begin. To run the Complete Illustrated Catalogue again,
  65.   place the CD-ROM into the drive and repeat the appropriate step 7 above.
  66.   You do not need to run SETUP again.

  68.   When running the program, ensure that the CIC CD-ROM is inserted into
  69.   your CD-ROM drive.  Do not eject the CD-ROM while the program is running.
  70.   The disc may be removed from the drive when you have finished running 
  71.   the program.
