Complete Illustrated Catalogue CD-ROM
=====================================
Introductory and Setup Notes
----------------------------
The Complete Illustrated Catalogue (CIC) program runs on a PC
installed with Microsoft Windows 3.1 (or later) or Windows 95.
A minimum of 8MB RAM (main memory) is recommended.
When running the program, ensure that the CIC CD-ROM is inserted
into your CD-ROM drive. Do not eject the CD-ROM while the program
is running. The disc may be removed from the drive when you have
finished running the program.
The CIC program must be installed onto your hard disc before it
can be run. This is because essential shared system files must
be made available to Windows. However, the data files which the
program uses always reside on the CD-ROM.
To install the National Gallery Complete Illustrated Catalogue:
1. Turn on your computer, and turn on your CD-ROM drive if necessary.
2. Place the CD-ROM into the drive. For some CD-ROM drives, you may
first need to place the CD-ROM into a plastic disk holder called
a 'caddy.'
3. Wait a few seconds until the CD-ROM drive's busy light switches off.
For Microsoft Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups users:
4. From the Program Manager's "File" Menu, choose "Run...".
5. Type
D:\SETUP
and click the "OK" button. (If your CD-ROM is not connected to
drive D:, please replace this with the letter of your CD-ROM
drive.)
6. Follow the instructions presented to you by SETUP; it may need to
restart your PC.
7. When the SETUP program has finished, a new program manager group
called "Complete Illustrated Catalogue" will have been created;
double-click on the "Complete Illustrated Catalogue" icon in this
program group.
For further information, double-click the "CIC Read Me" icon in the
"Complete Illustrated Catalogue" program group.
For Microsoft Windows 95 users:
4. Double-click the "My Computer" icon, then double-click on the CD-ROM
drive icon.
5. Double-click on the "Setup" program icon.
6. Follow the instructions presented to you by SETUP; it may need to
restart your PC.
7. When the SETUP program has finished, click on the "Start button",
click on the "Programs" sub-menu, and a new "Complete Illustrated
Catalogue" sub-menu should be present. Choose this, and then choose
the "Complete Illustrated Catalogue" menu item.
For further information, select the "CIC Read Me" menu item from the
"Complete Illustrated Catalogue" sub-menu under the Start button.
When the program starts up, it displays a title screen click anywhere on
this screen to begin. To run the Complete Illustrated Catalogue again,
place the CD-ROM into the drive and repeat the appropriate step 7 above.
You do not need to run SETUP again.
When running the program, ensure that the CIC CD-ROM is inserted into
your CD-ROM drive. Do not eject the CD-ROM while the program is running.
The disc may be removed from the drive when you have finished running
the program.
